Inspired by the controversial EC Comics of the 1950s–which also provided the title and inspiration for the popular Tales from the Crypt TV series–director George Romero and screenwriter Stephen King serve up five delightfully frightful stories. Utilizing comic-book panels, animated segues, and exaggerated lighting and camera angles, Romero and cinematographer Michael Gornick come very close to replicating a horror comic in film format. The results mix fine acting with the morbid sense of humor and irony that made the EC books so popular in their heyday. Actors such as Leslie Nielsen, Hal Holbrook, Ted Danson, Adrienne Barbeau, Ed Harris, EG Marshall, and even King appear in the stories, which include tales of a sinister father’s day celebration, a mysterious meteor, seaweed-draped zombies, a monster in a crate, and a cockroach-phobic millionaire. Fiendishly fun fare from one of horror’s most famous directors.
My cousin brought this tape over when I was very little, and it traumatized me for many, many years. I stayed up almost every night thinking there was a white gorilla hiding behind my bedroom door lol

Omg, I have a very similar story! I watched this with my parents when I was little, and the cockroach part always stuck in my head and traumatized me! I didn’t really even know I had watched this movie until I saw the cockroach part a couple months ago! Nonetheless, this movie is amazing 🙂
it was a Yeti, ya’ll. It said arctic expedition on it, they captured the damn abominable snowman and locked his ass under the stairs for 147 years! wouldn’t you eat anything that came near the box?!??! Word of advice…never stick your hand in a dark box, dumbass!
so the gorilla from hell likes the box? and likes it under the stairs? if i were him i wouldve just gone free and reaked havoc
Thank God it wasn’t just me – I remember watching this video when I was 10 and crapping myself over that creepy monkey-monster thing in the crate. I couldn’t sleep for about a week. It really stuck in my head.
I saw this movie back when I was in the 7th grade. It was at school during a Halloween party.
I didn’t know what that thing in crate was but some of the other kids said it was a Tasmanian Devil..
It’s a Tasmanian Devil the guy even says it in the movie a yeti is 10 times as bigger the Tasmanian Devil is very similar to the loony toones cartoon it looks like an ape.
Werewolf…?
Rabbid gorilla…?
Mum….!?
that box its bigger then it looks
that’s typical. a monster that lives under the stairs!
they all deserve to die!!!
there is no way in hell that’s a Tasmanian Devil! 🙂
Meow!! TDR Ppl
the way they use the lighting in this movie really adds to the whole thing

i saw this back when i was a kid…
Well after a few hundred years you would be pretty hungry =P
Omg this movie is awesome! =D
After all the doc been through….he still ask where’s wilma…LMAO!…damn she got them men shook
how the fuck does something live for 147 years anyway?? and it was a fuckin smartass whatever it was to be quiet until they opened the damn box lol
LoL!! i kno right?
My mom took me to the movies to see this!! I was speechless! I was so scared that I thought that monster was really loose!! I have never seen anything that ugly with razor sharp teeth. That thing’s teeth and eyes haunted me for years. Now when I watch it I’m in tears from laughing at that guy sreaming and whimpering. Totally a (grade A) Horror flick..
Looks like a couple of emeralds!!!!!! Stupid fuck.
word of advice…..never never never stick you hand in dark crate!!!
Ohhoo..man.
They should been more careful even opening a crate after gettin’ the feeling that something moved on it’s own and even making a strange sounds.
should have report about the crate and done some background check on it….but they just have to find out the hard way…look what happens they’ve found what’s in the crate a big, razor sharp-teeth, hungry, monkey MONSTER!!!!
damn who stole his banana? >.>
That monkey looks like one of the goblins from Troll 2 XD, I definitely love 80’s horror flicks
