In all honesty, when it comes to the F4, Stan co-created them with Jack.

thats true, no matter how genial the guy was, he CO CREATED his characters, i hate it when they ( and he himself does it too) imply he did it all by himself…

he doesn’t imply that he did it himself, but he did think of the character before Jack put it on paper aside from galactus, the silver surfer, and couple other characters, he thought of the idea. It just so happenes he couldn’t draw them himself. I hate when people watch a jack kirby documentary and think jack did more than he did just because he’s so glorified about what he did do.

FF was based on a Jack Kirby DC comic called Challengers of the Unknown ( 4 characters survive a crash land and decide to spend their lives fighting alien menaces and stuff). Kirby created it without Stan Lee so id be not so sure about The Man´s input in FF.

But the story only has one similarity, they crashland and fight crime. and that’s not even famous. Stan thought of the idea and jack put it on paper. But it was Stan’s idea and if he could put it on paper himself he would’ve

I agree. Comics are a predominantly visual medium, the visual identities of many characters are predicated upon their first appearances, designed by their respective ARTISTS. Not taking anything away from Lee (Well, I can’t stand his writing, but that’s neither here nor there.), but the regime of ridiculously talented artists that he worked with deserve major credit too.

Stan was the best!! He is and always will be the best!!! People always say it was the drawers but he created Daredevil, Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, Ect with all different drawers!!!!!
So they all became famous by Stan the writer not Steve, Jack, and (that guy who drew Daredevil) Without those amazing stories there wouldn’t be any drawings to look at!!
(Think about it for a minute and your find that I’m right.)

Exactly right, dorodevil. It’s obvious to anyone who’s read “The Challengers Of The Unknown” that “The Fantastic Four” is based on them, even down to the personality types (the brainiac, the hothead, the tough guy, etc). Even the sci-fi theme is taken from COTU. “June” was added to give the group a female presence, and she looks just like “The Invisible Girl/Woman”. Interestingly the FF’s powers come from the 4 elements: Reed/water, Ben/earth, Johnny/fire (obviously) and Sue/air.

Stan Lee was a genious. When you read comics done during the time (50s, 60s) by other publishers and compare the dialogue with Stan’s dialogues and narratives you realize why Marvel was such a hit in the sixties.
Jack Kirby and Ditko were the masters, it’s true, and Stan was lucky to have such talent to work with. But the truth is that both artists never succeeded in the same way after they stopped working with Stan. When they worked with him is when they produced their best material.

Other Lee colaborations that were 100% successful: Stan Lee- John Romita (Spider-Man), Lee- Gene Colan (Daredevil, Iron Man), Lee – Trimpe (Hulk), and so on… So it wasn’t coincidence that whenever Stan wrote a book it was usually a hit.

@carva9 no,if it wasn’t for kirby and ditko there would be no marvel.
jack kirby created the fantastic four not stan lee as you can see he can’t remember how he came up with the idea ,because he didn’t.
And ditko created spiderman not stan don’t you notice he doesn’t mention anyone else. kirby and simon also made up the whole spiderman story.
